Solar Grants in Spain 2026: IRPF, IBI and Eligibility

Check the current rules before counting any incentive in a solar budget.

A tax deduction, a reduction in a municipal property tax and a funded grant are different mechanisms. A past programme announcement does not show that applications are open today. This guide does not confirm an open 2026 funding window, a deduction percentage or an individual's eligibility.

IRPF: check the qualifying improvement, not just the equipment

Energy-efficiency deductions can depend on the type of property, taxpayer, qualifying works, timing and certified improvement. Installing solar alone does not establish entitlement. Ask a Spanish tax adviser to check the current legal basis and whether certificates are needed both before and after works.

    • Confirm the applicable tax year, completion and payment deadlines.
    • Check the eligible cost base, caps, ownership and use of the property.
    • Retain invoices, payment evidence and required energy certificates.
    • Establish how any grant affects the deductible amount and tax reporting.

IBI and ICIO: municipal rules differ

An IBI reduction concerns the municipal property tax. ICIO concerns the municipal tax on construction or installation works. Neither should be assumed to be an automatic discount on an installer's invoice.

Ask the ayuntamiento for the current ordinance, application form, qualifying installation conditions, evidence and deadline. Check whether an application must be made before works start, whether reductions have duration or value limits, and whether mandatory installations are treated differently. Do not apply one town's terms to another.

Grant programmes and historical Next Generation references

Older Spanish solar articles often cite Next Generation EU-funded self-consumption schemes. Treat those references as historical until the administering authority confirms a current call. A programme can be closed, awaiting processing or exhausted even while older information remains online.

Before committing expenditure, obtain the current call identifier, eligible applicant types, application window, budget status and rules on starting work. An installer preparing paperwork does not guarantee approval, payment timing or compatibility with other support.

Build a budget that works without an award

Compare the full installed price first, including tax, scaffolding, electrical upgrades and registration. Keep unapproved grants and deductions out of the base-case payback calculation. Model an incentive separately only after your adviser confirms the assumptions, and allow for any payment delay.

LIT is the primary specialist for the solar design and itemised installation proposal. Tax eligibility remains a matter for the authority and your adviser, not a sales assurance.

    Where to verify current rules

Also check your own ayuntamiento's current fiscal ordinances. These links are verification starting points, not evidence that a particular incentive is currently available to you. No tax-adviser review is claimed.
